We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Mhora Penny as the Accounting Assistant for the Diocese of Algoma effective February 1^st, 2025. This appointment is designed to alleviate some of the pressure our financial department have been under in recent years as Canon Jane has assumed more responsibilities related to the Executive Officer position.

Ms. Penny’s strong attention to detail, her excellent organizational abilities, proficiency with financial tools, professionalism and eagerness to serve the Diocese made her the strongest candidate for the position.

The months of February and March will be orientation for Ms. Penny as she works alongside our present Assistant Treasurer in preparing payroll and the monthly EOP. Other duties for the Accounting Assistant include assisting parishes and lay officers with respect to financial matters, preparing statements of obligation for parishes, monthly billings for parishes, and bank deposits, along with all duties related to accounts payable.  Mhora can be contacted by email beginning February 3^rd.  Her email address will be mhora.penny@dioceseofalgoma.com.

Jennifer Baron will step into the role of Chief Financial Officer and will assume many of Canon Jane’s responsibilities with respect to the day-to-day financial operations thus leaving Canon Jane time to fulfill the Executive Officer role.
