It is with sorrow we announce the death of the Rev. Canon Lynn Uzans on June 8^th, 2023 in Nova Scotia surrounded by her loving family – her husband Elmer and her adult children Drea and Nicole. To them and to all who mourn we offer our deepest condolences and the assurance of our prayerful support in this time of grief and loss. May they know the consolation of God’s love and peace and find comfort in their memories and the rich legacy Rev. Lynn has left behind.

From Algoma to Nova Scotia many people in the wider church were touched by her generous care of them. Rev. Lynn’s passion for the gospel, her pastoral heart and incredible gifts of wisdom and understanding made her an effective preacher and teacher and a natural when it came to offering spiritual advice or good counsel.

Rev. Lynn was a much loved pastor in the Diocese of Algoma having served in ministry at Vankoughnet, Uffington, Emsdale, Kearney, Novar, Sprucedale and Sand Lake before being appointed the incumbent of All Saint’s Huntsville in 1996. She served there until 2002 and during her incumbency was appointed by Bishop Ron Ferris to serve as the Territorial Archdeacon for Muskoka in 1998.

Early in her ministry Rev. Lynn wrote a personal mission statement which she included in every CV she prepared. Lynn wanted to be a ‘priest forever’, always listening and responding to God’s call in her life and remaining open to the Holy Spirit. An Eastered woman of prayer, Lynn sought to recognize the Risen Christ in every encounter she had and honoured the importance of self, family and friends. Relationships were important to Rev. Lynn with her relationship with Jesus at the very heart of her being. Her rest this day is with him in paradise and we know, because she told us that ‘It is well, it is well with my soul’.

This afternoon I reached out to Elmer Uzans and offered our sympathies and our prayers. He and the family are so grateful for every prayer which were felt by Lynn and her family.

Funeral arrangements are not yet finalized but details will likely be on Tuesday 13^th June at 2pm (Atlantic time) at John’s Anglican Church in Wolfville NS. Details will be be posted on the Middleton Funeral Home website and the obituary in Ontario will be posted on the Huntsville Doppler.

Bishop Sandra Fyfe (NSPEI) visited Rev. Lynn shortly before she died and offered her prayers and a blessing.
