Archbishop announces new appointments
Archbishop Anne Germond is pleased to announce the following appointments in the Diocese of Algoma:
The Rev. Beth Hewson as part-time Interim Incumbent at St. John the Divine, North Bay, commencing February 15th 2024. Rev. Beth is no stranger to St. John’s having served as their part-time Incumbent in 2018. The Archbishop says this of Rev. Beth, “As a priest, Rev. Beth brings the joy of the Lord to her ministry and her enthusiasm is infectious. She is well grounded in her faith and the Eucharist is at the very core of her being. Rev. Beth does not just ‘talk the talk’ but ‘walks the walk’. She sees the face of Jesus in all whom she serves and you will find her to be a very empathetic listener.”
We welcome Rev. Beth to her role and ask for prayers as she and the parish commence this new ministry together in a time of transition.
The Ven. Dr. Jay Koyle as full-time Incumbent of St. Luke’s Cathedral and Dean of Algoma commencing April 1st, 2024. Until this date, Archdeacon Jay will continue in his diocesan role while also serving at St. Luke’s for 12 hours a week. Archdeacon Jay is no stranger to the Cathedral having served as their Interim Incumbent in 2011. Jay brings with him much experience of parish ministry. He is looking forward to being back in this setting after years of serving the church at the diocesan level.
The Archbishop says this about Jay, “Archdeacon Jay is a big proponent of excellence in worship and much sought after nationally as a facilitator of workshops on liturgy. Over the years Archdeacon Jay has been instrumental in preparing the fine worship booklets that have been used at Synod gatherings as well as clergy conferences and ordination celebrations around the diocese.”
We welcome Jay to this new role and ask for prayers as he and the parish commence this new ministry together in a time of transition.
