UPDATE – Lessening of restrictions will become effective July 25th with some exceptions
The Ontario government has decided to enter into Step 3 of their reopening plan as of Friday, July 16. Though this comes just two and a half weeks after the launch of Step 2, the government believes health indicators are favourable to this accelerated reopening.
In consultation with our epidemiological consultant, The Rev. Michael Garner, we are preparing guidelines for Step 3 of Reopening Algoma’s Churches. This document will be published no later than the afternoon of Friday, July 16. However, please note that the lessening of restrictions outlined therein will take effect as of Sunday, July 25, 2021. In the meantime, corporate worship and all other activities associated with the church buildings will remain as they are. The important exception to this is the gathering for funeral rites. As of Monday, July 19, funeral rites may be conducted according to the guidance of Step 3 of Reopening Algoma’s Churches.
Thank you for your ongoing love of neighbour demonstrated in faithfully observing our Diocesan protocols!
In Christ,
Jay Koyle,
Diocesan Archdeacon and Executive Officer
