Archbishop Anne is pleased to announce that, God-willing, on the Feast of Timothy and Titus – January 26th 2019, Ms. Lana Grawbarger will be ordained to the sacred order of vocational deacons in Christ’s church.

Lana serves as the lay incumbent for St. John’s Anglican Church in Garden River where Chief Shingwauk envisioned a teaching lodge and where he is buried. Community leaders and elders recognize Lana’s leadership in the community beyond St. John’s and rejoice with her and her family.

The ordination service will take place in the Garden River Community Centre with our National Indigenous Bishop, Mark MacDonald, preaching. All are welcome to attend this celebration as we welcome a new deacon in our midst. The liturgical colour is red.  The exact time of the service will be posted in early January once further plans are discussed.

Almighty God by the preaching of your apostle Paul you called your servants Timothy and Titus and made them trusted partners in the work of spreading and establishing your gospel. Strengthen us in this present time to stand fast in all our adversities and to live in true godliness, that with confidence and gladness we may look for the glorious appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.
