Bishop announces upcoming ordination

Posted: May 18, 2017

Bishop Anne Germond is pleased to announce the ordination, God willing, of Margaret Morrison to the vocational diaconate on Sunday, May 28th, 2017 at 3:30 p.m.  The service will be held at St. Ambrose, Baysville.  Clergy are invited to robe and process.  The liturgical colour is red.

Margaret has a background in nursing (specialized in Pediatrics) and counselling attained through years of study and practical experience.  She has worked with chronically/terminally ill children and their families.  She created a self-help program for parents who had abused their children or had thoughts in that area.  The program proved highly successful and was established in the United States when Margaret’s family moved to Chicago.  Her expertise in this field prompted her hiring by the Children’s Aid Society to supervise Child Abuse programs in Canada.  She obtained her Masters in Counselling Psychology on weekends and provided free services to troubled adolescents.  She has over 30 years’ experience in the child welfare field.

Her volunteer experience includes work with parenting organizations, psychiatric hospitals, Muskoka Victim Services and organizations for the developmentally handicapped.

Margaret has been working with a local discernment team since early 2016 and has undertaken academic training programmes through Thorneloe University.  She has completed parish placements both within Algoma and in Florida and comes highly recommended.

Margaret is married to David and they have 4 children and 7 grandchildren.

We ask that you uphold Margaret, David and their family as she, and they, prepare for this celebration in their lives.
