35th Anniversary of Ordination

Posted: Nov 25, 2011

The Rev. Mary Lucas, Rector of St. John's Anglican Church, in Thunder Bay, since May 2009, is celebrating her 35th anniversary of her ordination to the priesthood on November 30, 2011.

Reverend Lucas was one of the first 6 women in Canada ordained as an Anglican priest on November 30, 1976.  She was ordained in the Diocese of Niagara at Grace Church in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Reverend Lucas has a Master of Divinity Degree and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Harvard University.

This is a milestone anniversary, and we celebrate her extensive years of ministry experience in Canada and the United States.  She has worked in inner city parish settings and has significant executive management and administrative experience in many social justice organizations.

There will be a service at St. John's, Thunder Bay, on Wednesday, November 30 at 7 pm to celebrate the anniversary of the 6 women who were ordained 35 years ago.  All are invited to attend.
