Prayers requested

Posted: Oct 25, 2017

A large scale search and recovery operation continues near the Cree community of Waskaganish after a boat carrying four hunters capsized last week.

We ask for your prayers for the community as the search continues.

Below is a note sent to the parish (St. Peter's, Waskaganish) and the Diocese of Moosonee from Bishop Tom Corston:

My dear friends...

Your brothers and sisters across the Diocese of Moosonee and throughout Canada have been watching prayerfully the tragedy of the loss of your loved ones. We pray day and night for the families of these men and continue to pray for all the searchers as they work hard to find the remaining hunters. This is such a hard time for you all. We extend to everyone our sincerest sympathies and the assurances of our continued prayers in the days ahead.

WE pray now that the Creator will lead the souls of those who have been lost in this tragedy into the arms of our ancestors. We pray that He will feed them in a fertile land and by the waters of comfort, in that place where the broken heart, sorrow and sighing have flown away and there is peace and joy in the Creator's presence. Give them rest now in that place Lord where they enjoy your light. We pray for ourselves, Lord, who are tested by this tragedy and who are left to continue our journey on this earth. Watch over us and give us courage to face the days ahead. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who loves them and all of us. Amen
