Bishop Anne Germond is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Pamela Rayment as the Indigenous Representative to the Executive Committee of the Diocese. This position was requested by the members of the Executive Committee as a result of the loss of a Diocesan representative from the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples due to the reorganization of ACIP representation. The Executive identified the importance of having an individual representing the Indigenous community and requested the Bishop appoint an individual to function in this role. The representative will be a member of the Executive Committee with voice but no vote.
Rev. Pam is Métis and was the Incumbent of St. John’s, Garden River, for two years prior to her appointment at Emmaus, Sault Ste. Marie, earlier this year. She was also Incumbent of St. John the Evangelist, Sault Ste. Marie, prior to the congregation’s amalgamation with St. Matthew’s. She has been instrumental in assisting with the transfer of the St. John’s property to the Métis Nation of Ontario and is expected to function as their chaplain for occasional services at St. John’s. She is a keen advocate for the rights of our Indigenous brothers and sisters and will provide a clear voice for issues affecting them at the Executive table.
We ask that you uphold Pam in prayer as she undertakes this new role on behalf of the Diocese.
