Bishop announces new appointment

Posted: May 8, 2017

Bishop Anne Germond is pleased to announce that she has appointed The Rev. Joan Locke as the new Archdeacon of Temiskaming Deanery effective June 1, 2017.

Joan is currently the Incumbent of Trillium Anglican Parish (Callander, Powassan, and Restoule) and Regional Dean for Temiskaming Deanery.  She holds a B.A. in Geography from Laurentian University and a M.Div. from Wycliffe College.  She was ordained to the Diaconate in 2008 and to the Priesthood in 2009. She has provided ministry along the North Shore of the Diocese, serving as Priest Associate for the Lake Superior Parish and as Incumbent for the Parish of Marathon and Schreiber prior to her appointment at Trillium Anglican Parish in 2013.

Joan has served on the Diocesan Compensation Committee, the Strategic Plan Reference Group and currently is a member of the Muskoka Ministry Transition Team.

Incidentally, Joan is the daughter of The Venerable Roy Locke (deceased) who was Archdeacon of Temiskaming and Rural Dean of Muskoka during his time of service in the Diocese.

Joan will succeed The Venerable Marie Loewen who is retiring at the end of May.

A collation date has yet to be determined.

Bishop Anne requests that we uphold Joan in prayer as she prepares to undertake this new ministry within the Diocese.
