Episcopal Electoral Synod 2016

Posted: Oct 7, 2016

Prayer Vigil during 2016 Electoral Synod

A prayer vigil in Sault Ste. Marie is scheduled during the 2016 Electoral Synod to select the new Bishop of Algoma.

The candidates are the following, with their respective spouses:

The Rev. Dr. Byron Gilmore (Kim)

The Rev. Dr. Patricia McCarthy (Art)

The Rev. Patrick McManus (Renée)

The Very Rev. James McShane (Nicki)

Who's called to pray?

Everyone! Whether you're at home or at work, ask your families and friends to join you in earnest prayer. In God's eyes, the prayers of a child of 5 or 95 is cherished.

Who do I pray for and why?

Pray for the safety of those travelling to attend the Electoral Synod.  It's a sacrifice to be away from family and work commitments. Pray for the weather, this is the North after all!

Pray for each candidate and their families. Whoever is selected has a tremendous calling to follow the humble example of Jesus, the servant King and the Good Shepherd.

Pray for the Synod delegates to be guided by the Holy Spirit.

Pray before, during and after the election for unity, God's peace and protection.

Last but not least,

Pray for the Synod Office staff:   The Venerable Harry Huskins, Jane Mesich, Liz Hamel, and Marjorie Ingram. Cover them in prayer...a sense of humour helps to answer the same questions with grace and to meet the demands and deadlines.

For those interested in attending the Prayer Vigil in Sault Ste. Marie:

Place:  Christ Church, 585 Allen's Side Road

Vigil hours:

Praying throughout Synod!  It is a time of silence and waiting on the Lord Jesus.

Please note:

There's someone praying at all times until the new bishop is elected.

There is no designated time for visitors to come and pray; just come!
