The Reverend Chris Harper leaving St Michael & All Angels, Thunder Bay

It is with sadness that Bishop Stephen Andrews has accepted the resignation of The Rev. Christopher Harper as Incumbent of St Michael and All Angels, Thunder Bay. He and Tracy are moving to the Diocese of Toronto to take up the position of Aboriginal Pastor in association with the Diocese and the Toronto Urban Native Ministry, beginning September 1, 2016, TUNM touches more than 6,000 lives each year and reaches out to aboriginal people on the street, in hospitals, in jails, shelters and hostels. In additional to playing a role in the Church’s reconciliation processes, Chris will provide counselling, spiritual care and referrals to community services.

Chris came to the Diocese of Algoma in 2012 from the Diocese of Saskatchewan. Since his arrival in the Thunder Bay, he has served on a number of diocesan and national committees, including the Anglican Council of Indigenous People, the Diocesan Executive, and the General Synod Planning Committee of the Council of General Synod. He was instrumental in initiating the December Gospel Jamborees that have taken place in Thunder Bay the past three years. He is a graduate of Wycliffe College and was ordained in 2005.
