Bishop appoints new Archdeacon

Posted: Jun 27, 2011
Bishop Stephen Andrews is pleased to announce that The Reverend Deborah Kraft has accepted his appointment as the Archdeacon of Thunder Bay, effective 1 July 2011.   She takes up the post left vacant by The Venerable Andrew Hoskin, who takes up a new ministry in the Diocese of Saskatchewan.  Made a Deacon in 2001 and ordained a Priest the following year, Deborah has served the parishes of West Thunder Bay (2000-2005) and St Paul’s, Thunder Bay (2005-present).  She has served on a number of diocesan committees, including the Diocesan Task Force on Lay Readers, the Diocesan Executive Committee as the Bishop’s Appointee (since 2007), Facilitator of the Strategic Plan, and the Constitution and Canons Committee (which she chairs).  She is the former President of the Thunder Bay Community Foundation and recently served on the Moosonee Vision Quest Task Force.  Deborah ran her own marketing firm in Thunder Bay and taught marketing at Confederation College before responding to a vocation to pastoral ministry.  She has a B.Sc. from Trinity College; an M.B.A. from the Faculty of Management Studies at the University of Toronto; a B.Th. from Thorneloe University; and a M.T.S. from Trinity College.  She has been married to Jouni for 34 years, and they have four children.  A service of Collation will take place in Thunder Bay in September.  We offer our prayers and congratulations to Deborah as she begins this new ministry within the Diocese.
