The Rev. Canon Murray Tipping died in North Bay on the evening of Saturday, 19 September 2015, surrounded by his family. A LTh graduate of Huron College, Canon Murray was ordained by Archbishop Wright and served a curacy at St Luke’s Cathedral. In 1957 he established the Parish of Christ Church in North Bay before serving with the Canadian Army in 1963. Subsequently transferring to the Diocese of Montreal, Murray returned to North Bay and, in 1998, was made an Honorary Assistant at the church he had founded. He was made a Canon of the Diocese of Algoma in 2011.

Canon Murray Jesse Rushton Tipping passed into God’s nearer presence on Saturday, September 19 about 6:30 pm, with his wife and daughter beside him.
His funeral service will be celebrated by Bishop Stephen Andrews at Christ Church, Greenwood Avenue, North Bay at 2 pm Thursday, September 24, 2015. A reception will follow immediately after in the church hall. The family will receive visitors on the same day, at the church, from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Burial will be at a later date. If desired the family would appreciate donations in Canon Murray's name to Christ Church, North Bay. Canon Murray was the founding priest of Christ Church Anglican and his church family thank God for his ministry and faithful witness.
