'22 Days' - Primate's call to Anglicans

Posted: Apr 22, 2015

Dear Friends,

At the meeting of the House of Bishops last week, the Primate issued a call to Anglicans across the country to get involved in an initiative promoting healing and reconciliation with our First Nations brothers and sisters. Called ’22 Days’, the programme marks the period of time from the final gathering of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Ottawa and National Aboriginal Day on Sunday, 21 June. It has been endorsed by the National Indigenous Anglican Bishop, Mark MacDonald.

I also endorse this action and would like to ask you to participate. The attached document describes the initiative and contains ideas on how this period of time might be honoured. You are also encouraged to add your name to the e-mail list in order to receive daily postings on the event.

Healing and reconciliation are, of course, at the heart of the gospel of the One who died and rose again for our justification. This initiative underlines the commitment of our Church in pursuing healing and reconciliation with Indigenous people beyond the soon-to-be-completed mandate of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Wishing you Eastertide blessings,
