Pastoral Chaplain for Temiskaming Deanery

Posted: May 22, 2014

Bishop Stephen Andrews is pleased to announce the appointment of The Venerable Linda White as Pastoral Chaplain for the Deanery of Temiskaming, effective immediately. This is the first time the deanery has had its own chaplain since 2008, when The Rev. John Lockyer left the diocese. Since then, The Rev. Glen Miller has functioned in this capacity from his home in Lively.

‘Archdeacon Linda’s proximity in the deanery, along with her considerable experience and pastoral gifts, make her ideal for the role,’ said Bishop Andrews.

Pastoral chaplains perform an essential function in the discernment process. Individuals who are curious about serving the Church in an ordained capacity can consult the pastoral chaplain and receive helpful guidance. The pastoral chaplain assists candidates through the process of selection and training, and provides advice to the Bishop and to the Postulancy Commission. There is, currently, one candidate for holy orders from the Temiskaming Deanery. The other diocesan pastoral chaplains are: The Rev. Canon Paul Carr (Thunder Bay – North Shore); Canon Bob Elkin (Algoma); The Rev. Glen Miller (Sudbury-Manitoulin); and The Rev. Peter Simmons (Muskoka).
