Executive Committee news

The Executive Committee of the Diocese of Algoma met March 19-20 at Villa Loyola in Sudbury. The greater part of the agenda was devoted to the Strategic Plan’s call to rationalization - cultivating and directing our resources and capacities to develop and sustain healthy parishes in Algoma.

The Executive received summaries of congregational assessments that had been completed and submitted by the end of February. The Congregational Development Officer (CDO) briefed Executive on what these assessments reveal about the Diocese overall, highlighting both signs of vitality and evident challenges.

Meeting in deanery groups, Executive members discussed the work of rationalization. They also reviewed the summaries and provided feedback to assist the CDO in issuing reports that will be helpful to leadership in parishes and deaneries. 

The complete assessment reports will be distributed to congregations and deanery officials by the end of April. These reports are designed to:

1.         Help parishes prepare for future ministry,

2.         Assist Deaneries to plan for common mission.
