Death of The Rev. John McRae

Posted: Jan 9, 2014

This morning we received news from The Venerable Anne Germond that The Rev. John McRae had died yesterday in his sleep. Mr McRae was retired from the Diocese of Ottawa, where he had worked in the civil service, and was living in Gore Bay. Anne writes that 'John lived a long and full life and was married to his beloved Ruth for over 50 years. They moved to the Island some years ago to be closer to family and John helped out in services until failing health prevented him from being more involved. He will be deeply missed.'

Visitation is on Sunday from 2-4 pm at the Culgin Funeral Home in Gore Bay. The funeral will also be at the Funeral Home on Monday morning at 11.00, with The Rev. Sherry De Jonge officiating and Archdeacon Germond assisting.

A wonderful article on the McRae's interesting life can be found in a recent article that appeared in the Manitoulin Expositor (click here to see the article). Please pray for Ruth and John’s family members as they cope at this time of great loss and sorrow.
