We commend to your prayers the Diocese of Moosonee as it moves into its new status as a Mission District within the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario. We give thanks for the ministry of Bishop Corston and pray for him, Archbishop Colin Johnson, and the newly appointed diocesan administrator, The Ven. Deborah Lonergan-Freake, as they provide spiritual direction and care for the newly restructured area.
We also accept the invitation of Bishop Lydia Mamakwa to pray for the implementation of the new northern Ontario diocese, Mishamikweesh (‘Big Beaver House’), to be officially inaugurated 4 June 2014.
Creator God, we give thanks for the witness and worship of the Diocese of Keewatin for over a century and for your abiding presence on that journey. We are grateful for the bishops, priests, deacons, catechists, lay readers and other leaders you have raised up for them. They have kept the flame burning bright as they steadfastly held before the people the vision of a future bright with promise. We pray now that your Spirit will continue to rest upon them as we enter this new adventure of building up a self-determining, self-supporting indigenous church within the Anglican Church of Canada. As they have learned to walk together, may your Holy Spirit so strengthen and inspire them that they may truly dance together for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. AMEN.
