Congratulations to Archdeacon Harry Huskins who was elected Thursday afternoon (July 4) as Prolocutor of the General Synod of the Anglican Church of Canada. He was chosen on the second ballot out of a slate of three candidates. He brings considerable experience of the Church at both the diocesan, provincial and national levels. He has served as the Executive Archdeacon of Algoma since 2000, and as an Executive Officer for the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario since 1998. In 2010 he was elected Deputy Prolocutor of the General Synod, and in that position played a key role in framing proposals being considered at this General Synod for the restructuring of the General Synod. He holds a doctorate in canon law.
The Prolocutor is, next to the Primate, the Senior Officer of the General Synod and works closely with the General Secretary and the Council of General Synod. He is ex-officio on all of the committees of the General Synod.
Our prayers ascend for Harry as he undertakes this significant role, both as he applies his gifts to a church in transition and as he tries to balance his new responsibilities with his existing ones.
