It is with much sadness that Bishop Andrews has received the resignation of The Rev. George Kwari, effective 1 April 2013. Father George came to Algoma to fill a maternity leave at St Thomas’, Bracebridge in 2010. He was then appointed as Interim Incumbent of the Parish of Callander, Powassan and Restoule, and the Chaplaincy of St John’s, Chisholm, in March of that year. The Concurrence Committee then unanimously and enthusiastically petitioned the bishop to have him appointed as permanent Incumbent, a role which began on 1 September 2011.
Father George originally came to Algoma from the Diocese of Ottawa. He will be returning as the Incumbent of the four-point Parish of Maberly-Lanark. This will allow him to be closer to his wife, Epiphania, and their two children. Epi works in the Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in Ottawa. We shall miss George’s passionate preaching, devoted pastoral care, and warm sense of humour. We pray God’s blessing on him and his ministry as he undertakes his new charge, and for God’s guidance as the Parish of Callander, Powassan and Restoule begin the search for a new Incumbent.
